Besides the obvious ways to maximize SAT and ACT prep (such as doing consistent prep, doing the homework so a tutor can target areas of weakness, etc), there are two important steps to making the best use of this specialized tutoring.
We typically find what is factual to seem reasonable. As such, because the social and natural science passages on the ACT Reading Section are always on non-fiction (factual) topics, we can use inference to get many of the questions correct.
