When one approaches a meaningful turning point, especially at a tender and often tumultuous stage in life such as teenagehood, there are many ingredients in the recipe for success that must be carefully nurtured. Preparation is never fully guaranteed with only some pieces of the equation in consideration; a cake with the best quality batter will still never rise without a leavening agent, a tennis player with the best physical trainer will still never win without the expertise of a great coach, and an airplane with the most knowledgeable pilots will still never fly without wings. Even with certain variables perfected, there’s one far-too-often neglected component to achieving one’s goals: professional and strategic emotional support. A quality life and executive function coach can be one of the best ways to ensure that your child is on the right track, and this is the best time of year to get started so that students can finish the year strong and start their summers productively to set themselves up for future success.
Unlike therapy, which focuses on the past, coaching focuses on the future. Unlike mentoring, which involves a master/student dynamic, coaching involves a collaborative partnership with one common goal in mind: the betterment of the individual. Life coaching is a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires people to maximize their potential. In a coach/client partnership, the client is not pathologized or psychoanalyzed, but honored as the expert of their life and a person who is creative, resourceful, and capable of bettering their life.
Because the time spent as a teenager contains many factors that lead people to inadvertently or deliberately stray from the path of their best interest, everyone at that stage of life can benefit from having a trained professional in their corner who’s ready to tackle whatever life throws their way. While family members, teachers, classmates, and friends are all crucial outlets for support, a professional life coach can circumvent personal limitations and provide strategic help to their client with a trained eye, a powerful tool kit, and a meaningful goal of the utmost importance: your child’s clarity as they march towards their future with confidence.
If you’re looking for someone to help provide that clarity, collaborative direction, and confidence, we would love to help. Here is a bit about me. My name is RenĂ©e Reiter, and I am an International Coaching Federation (ICF) certified life coach. I graduated with honors from Washington University in St. Louis with a bachelor’s degree in the joint program of Philosophy-Neuroscience-Psychology. After completing my undergraduate studies and working at a major public relations agency, I studied with the ICF approved training program, CTEDU, through which I was certified upon graduation. Through Summit Prep and through my own practice, Clear Coast Coaching, I strive to empower others to better their lives. My passion is psychology, my mission is to help people, and my career as a life coach is my calling.
Whether my client is navigating high school, in the throws of standardized tests, or gearing up for college, I am devoted to helping them find their footing and feel a sense of self-sufficiency through tangible strategies to positively impact their trajectory. Please feel free to reach out with any questions, I would be happy to partner with you and your child to help them on their journey.
