David Blobaum is a nationally recognized expert on standardized exams and college admissions. He graduated from the University of Chicago with honors both from the college and in his major, and he received his Executive MBA from Quantic School of Business and Technology. In college, he took seriously the University of Chicago’s aim of a “Renaissance” or well-rounded education and took courses in 17 different disciplines, ranging from Statistics and Economics to Philosophy and Art History. Eva Addae

Co-Founder | Co-Owner

Eva Addae is a Partner at Summit Prep LLC and a graduate from the University of Chicago. Following some time in the corporate world, she discovered her passion for teaching when she led a few local students in achieving incredible success on their SATs & ACTs. Dissatisfied with the “one size fits all” approach to tutoring, Eva set out to create modern teaching methodologies, techniques and motivating systems that reflect the same process. Along with her business partner, David, they developed the company’s Adaptive Learning Indexes from over 20 years of past SATs & ACTs. Her personal philosophy is “only by knowing how one learns can knowledge be imbued and the joy of education discovered.”

Ryan

Director of Education

Ryan is our Director of Education. After scoring a 36 on the ACT and a 2370 (out of 2400) on the SAT in 10th grade, Ryan went from being a recruited athlete to starting a volunteer tutoring network for athletes. After graduating from the University of Scranton with a BA in History, a BS in Secondary Education, and minors in Mathematics, Literature and Philosophy, Ryan worked in the public school system (PA and NYC) for 6 years teaching AP Histories, English (Lit/Lang), Econ, and Psych. For the past fifteen years, he has had one simple goal: each student walks away knowing he or she can surpass any limit.

Whether teaching Math, Science, or English, Ryan will always employ the most personalized approach he can, with a firm belief that every student is fundamentally different and therefore deserves different approaches.

Charles

Executive Educational Consultant

Charles attended Baylor University as a National Merit Scholar for his undergraduate degree, where he studied mathematics, physics, and languages. After graduating, he completed a Master of Studies in Theology (Science and Religion) at the University of Oxford, and then studied for a Master of Science in theoretical physics at Imperial College London.

In high school, Charles scored 1590 on the SAT, a 35 on the ACT, and 750+ on five SAT subject tests. He also took 15 AP exams and scored a 5 in every non-foreign language subject.

It might be shorter to list what he does not tutor for than what he does, but, an abbreviated list of what he tutors for includes the SAT, ACT, GRE, GMAT, and virtually any level of Math and Physics. When not working, Charles enjoys board games, playing guitar, reading, writing, and competitive powerlifting, having previously represented the University of Oxford at the Second World University Powerlifting Cup and competed in the British National Bench Press Championships.

Charles firmly believes that any subject can be easy if made interesting and taught well, and he endeavors to always make this the case.

Kyosuke

Expert Educational Consultant

Kyosuke graduated from Columbia University with a BA in Mathematics and a concentration in Physics. Before coming to Summit Prep, he worked as a teaching assistant for undergraduate physics, tutored at inner city schools for standardized tests, and created an ACT prep course.

Kyosuke discovered his passion for teaching early in high school when he began tutoring middle schoolers that were struggling with math. He was surprised to find out that these students’ difficulties had nothing to do with the subject and everything to do with the often unintuitive methods they were taught in class. Since then, he has loved helping students discover their personal approach to problem solving. When preparing students for standardized tests, he places additional emphasis on efficient problem solving and time management.

In his free time, Kyosuke enjoys playing soccer, reading about science, and finding investment opportunities.

Vincent

Expert Educational Consultant

Vincent is a Yale graduate and holds a Ph.D in Mathematics from Stony Brook University. He has done research in Mathematics and Machine Learning (Artificial Intelligence).

He has been teaching and tutoring in Mathematics and the Sciences since he was young. When working one-on-one, he takes the time to get to know each student and is then quickly able to explain topics in ways most suited to each person. He reinforces explanations through repetition and shows students alternative methods to solve each question in order to add to their knowledge base of strategies and techniques. When it comes to preparing students for standardized exams, he additionally teaches students how to find answers quickly yet calmly.

Vincent enjoys running and cycling, has competed at the National level in these sports, and also currently serves as a health and fitness coach.

Meredith

Expert Educational Consultant

Meredith graduated from Ithaca College with a BA in Environmental Studies and concentrations in Anthropology, Biology, Ecology, and Land Management. Her passion for teaching began at age 14 when she provided phonics and math tutoring for families within her community. Since then, her love of teaching has only grown exponentially and she has been a specialized standardized test tutor since 2015. She continues to find approaches to best fit the needs of every student: delivering positive, analytical, and impactful sessions so that students can reach their full potential. When she is not at Summit Prep, Meredith enjoys reading, singing, and dancing.

Pauline (Polly)

Expert Educational Consultant

Polly is a St. Elizabeth University alum with a BA in Mathematics and a BA in Education. From a family full of educators, Polly developed a love for learning and teaching early on: in high school, after volunteering to help a fourth grade student once a week, she realized the importance of individualized learning.

From there, her love of mathematics and problem solving thrived. For over ten years, she has specialized in personalized education using the ideas of philosophers, including Nel Noddings, bell hooks, and Maria Montessori. Her goal: to not only have the student understand the subject, but understand why they need to know the subject. A student who cares is a student who learns.

Polly’s vocational journey includes working as an educator for special needs, a classroom teacher for middle school, a supplemental instructor for high schools, and an education coordinator for the Florida State Parks. Her experience with a wide age range of students has molded her own educational philosophy about the importance of the individual.

Although her first love is math, Polly also enjoys teaching computer science, art history, statistics, and all things with standardized testing. She wants each and every student to learn to be confident in themselves. She will be with you every step of the way, not only teaching content but also instructing skills that will help in and out of the classroom. She will not hesitate to optimize your learning experience.

Kirill

Professional Educational Consultant

Kirill graduated from Stony Brook University with a B.S. in Biochemistry where he immersed himself as deeply as possible into the world of science, studying classes that ranged from the fundamentals (biology, chemistry, and physics) to the more intriguing (cancer genetics, physiology, pathology, etc). He did some informal tutoring in undergrad but it was while in medical school that he began tutoring more – so much so that after four years of medical school he had realized that he loved teaching science and medicine more than he liked practicing it. Instead of continuing as a doctor, he pursued what he found to be his passion and calling: teaching.

For the last 8 years he has been helping students prepare for academic subjects (particularly in the sciences) and standardized tests (the MCAT, SAT, ACT, etc). He aims not just to instill knowledge but also to cultivate a passion for it. In his free time, Kirill enjoys mountain biking, sky diving, and surfing.

Kristen

Professional Educational Consultant

Kristen graduated with high honors from the University of Scranton. She holds a B.S. in Biology, as well as minors in Biochemistry and Psychology. Throughout her educational career, Kristen pursued her passion for helping students succeed through working as a peer tutor and private instructor. She is devoted to encouraging students to believe in themselves, their abilities, and their infinite capability to improve. She believes that a successful student blooms from a confident, supported student.

Kristen tutors all sections of the ACT, SAT, ISEE, SSAT, and HSPT, in addition to the Biology SAT Subject Test, AP Biology Exam, and AP Psychology Exam. She can also tutor students in Mathematics (up to Pre-calculus), all biology courses, psychology, writing, and all K-8 subjects. In her free time, Kristen enjoys spending time with her friends and family, traveling, crafting, solving all types of puzzles, and reading.
